"IF YOU MAKE AUTOMATIC WEAPONS THEY WILL BE SOLD AND USED"

Is it possible to restrict the amount of weapons and the kinds of weapons that are made? If gun manufacturers were only allowed to sell their automatic weapons and ammunition to their own government military and police, there would be less guns for organized crime and gangs.,,society would be safer. But the business of selling guns to almost anyone or any government or militant group is a powerful industry. Big business is only interested in how much money they can make selling their products. How does society restrict these powerful gun manufacturers and their special interest groups, and still allow hunting and sport gun ownership?
